Learning Arabic? Sound like a human, not a textbook.

Imagine speaking with someone who spoke English fluently, with no pauses or challenges. But despite living in 2025, they speak like Shakespeare. You might be impressed, but you might not invite them to give the next business presentation.

That’s what happens when people only learn “formal Arabic” from books. The grammar might be perfect, but the conversation feels unnatural. The vocabulary might be impressive, but it’s just not how people talk.

People who learn Arabic through immersive methods sound different. Why? Because they’re picking up the fillers, expressions, and tones Saudis actually use every day. They’re using the vocabulary that people use in real-life, ordinary situations. Their accent and pronunciation are aligned to how people actually talk, not what the textbook producer determined is ‘correct.’ In short, they make you sound real.

When you use language the way locals do, people respond differently — warmer, friendlier, more engaged. You’re not just learning Arabic. You’re learning Saudi Arabic. So while we’re not opposed to learning formal Modern Standard Arabic by any means, we don’t recommend starting with that. Start with sounding like a real human, then learn the particular formal ways that are helpful in reading and writing.
